The Dairy: Center for the Arts

This week's blog is all The Dairy Center for the Arts.  'The Dairy', as its commonly known as, is a community space that allows for all of the Boulder community diverse opportunities to create, learn, and participate in local art experiences.

The Dairy Center for the Arts has been around since 1987 and founded by a group of local artists eager to have a common space for art shows and other exhibitions.  It is so called 'The Dairy' because it in fact was an old dairy plant.  In 1990 the abandoned dairy plant was converted into the Flatirons Center for the arts and has been around every since.

If you are familiar with The Dairy, then you are probably aware of their annual Bike Art exhibit that took place over this few weeks.  This year's opening night for the Bike Art exhibit included over 246 pieces of art and attracted over 1,500 people, that's double the crowd the 2011 opening night drew in!

People in Boulder like bikes, who knew!?

Unfortunately the Bike Art exhibit is now closed but there are a lot more fun opportunities in the coming weeks to expose yourself to some art and culture.  In the coming weeks of April you can see the MMMMMBoulder Film, music, and art show, or a theatre piece 'A Night of Improvisational Theatre', or the musical 'The Law Students for the Performing Arts, Glamorous Law School'.  For the entire list of shows, visit The Dairy's website at thedairy.org.

Even if you are not a big art person or find musicals boring, The Dairy provides a wide range of experiences that cater to everyone's idea of art.  Its an every changing theatre of wonder.  Just this past week, they painted a new mural on the East facing wall.

Get out this April and visit The Dairy and get some culture!
