The Tea Spot

Founded in Colorado, The Tea Spot, is Boulder's philanthropic loose tea company.  They are a worldwide distributor of loose leaf tea and steepwear.  Originally founded in Colorado Springs, The Tea Spot now claims Boulder as their headquarters.

I took a trip over to their offices in East Boulder to learn more about the company, what they do, and what they're all about.  Upon my venture I met Maria Uspenski, the owner and founder of The Tea Spot.  She is a very passionate woman with an entrepreneurial spirit, for this is her second start-up company.  Maria founded The Tea Spot eight years ago after fighting cancer.   While battling cancer Maria was turned on to tea and found the great health benefits from loose leaf tea.  She believed the tea's nourishment revitalized her.  She knew she wanted to share her experience and help spread the truth about the health and wellness benefits of loose leaf tea.

'"So what is the differences between bagged tea and loose leaf tea," I asked.

"First off, there are 7 grades of tea, the lowest two are bagged, the higher teh level the healthier the tea."  Maria explained that mass produced bagged tea is usually the bottom, cheapest, of the barrel and is therefore the least healthy tea you can get.  As well, the bag the tea is in does not filter well and causes the tea to be less potent.  This is where loose leaf tea separates itself.

Loose leaf team is a higher grade of tea and there lies its potential.  By using a higher grade and avoiding the filtered bags, loose leaf tea allows you to get the intended health nourishment that tea is supposed to give you.

To share her dream with people, The Tea Spot was created.  They now have a fully functioning company that does their own blending of teas and production of steepwear.  Their most popular teas include 'Boulder Breakfast' a black tea and 'Boulder Blues' a green tea.

The Tea Spot is constantly being innovative by creating new blends of tea and revolutionizing steepware to make it more portable and user friendly.  So next time your at the store, shop local and try out some of The Tea Spots delicious products.

Farfel's Farm, Come for a visit

Farfel's Farm is not a place for growing food or horse stables, it is the dream store of Sandy Calvin and Jeff Richey which focuses on taking care of your four legged friends.

I was curious how the name 'Farfel's Farm' came to be the name of the store.  It turns out the name comes from pet dog, Farfel, who is a bearded collie.  (A statue of him sits in the store)

Located on the West end of Pearl, Farfel's Farm is a local pet store that is passionate in providing the highest-quality gifts, food and photography for your pets.  Before opening Farfel's Farm, Sandy and Jeff were/are professional photographers and combined with their passion for animals they saw and opportunity and the creation of Farfel's Farm came to be.

Aside from pet photography, they offer a full functioning pet store and carry all sorts of organic pet food, pet apparel, carriers, collars, leashes, beds, grooming products, etc.  They are a one-stop shop for all of your cat and dog needs.  Stop in today and don't forget to bring you pet!
